DiskDetox: Disk Cleanup & PC Cleaner — Privacy Policy

1. What stays on your PC

Checking your drives, measuring folders, finding duplicates and old app versions, and cleaning all happen on your PC, using your PC's own processor. Scan results are kept in memory while the app is open and are not saved or uploaded. Your settings (theme, bar style, chosen AI provider and model, whether AI agents are allowed) are stored in a settings file on your PC.

2. Accounts

The app has no accounts and no sign-in. We never ask for your name, email address or any other personal details.

3. Optional AI features (“Explain with AI”, “Ask AI”, report summary)

AI is off until you add your own API key in Settings for Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI or Google (Gemini). Nothing is sent to any AI provider until you press an AI button.

• What is sent: the paths of the files and folders you ask about, their sizes, last-changed dates and file counts; for the report summary, your drives' total and free space and the report's item names, paths and sizes. Before sending, your Windows user folder is replaced with %USERPROFILE% and your user name with <user>.
• What is never sent: the contents of any file.
• Where it goes: directly from your PC to the provider you chose, over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, under your own account with that provider. It does not pass through Aarvion. The provider handles it under its own policy: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google.
• Model list: when you open Settings with a key saved, the app asks your provider which AI models your key can use, so it can show them in the model list.
• Your API key: stored only on your PC, encrypted with Windows' built-in data protection (DPAPI), so other Windows user accounts cannot read it. It is sent only to the provider it belongs to. You can remove it at any time in Settings → Remove saved key.

4. Optional: AI agents (MCP)

Settings → Advanced → Let AI agents use DiskDetox (MCP) is off by default. When you turn it on, AI apps on your PC that you connect (for example Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor or Codex) can ask DiskDetox to list your drives, measure a folder or check for space that can be freed. This runs locally on your PC and is read-only: agents can never delete anything through DiskDetox. What those apps do with the results is governed by their own privacy policies. Pressing Connect adds a DiskDetox entry to that app's settings on your PC (where DiskDetox edits a settings file directly, it keeps a backup copy of the previous one); nothing is sent over the internet to set it up.

5. Cleaning and deleting

DiskDetox never removes anything without your confirmation. Your own files (from Explore a drive and Duplicates) are moved to the Windows Recycle Bin, so you can restore them. Cache and temporary files are deleted directly, and only from a fixed list of known cache folders; the same applies to old versions of apps that have since been updated, and to folders that are completely empty. Deep Windows cleanup runs Windows' own tools and asks for administrator permission each time.

DiskDetox contains no advertising, analytics, tracking or crash-reporting services.

7. Permissions

Permission	Why it is needed
Full trust (runFullTrust)	To read folder sizes across your drives and to clean the files you choose. Sandboxed apps cannot do this.
Internet	Only for the optional AI features in section 3.
Administrator (asked each time)	Only for Deep Windows cleanup, which uses Windows' own cleanup tools.

8. Children

The app is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not collect personal information from anyone through the app.

9. Keeping and deleting data

Aarvion receives no data from DiskDetox, so there is nothing for us to keep or delete. Uninstalling the Microsoft Store version removes its settings and your saved API key from your PC. If you installed from this website, uninstalling leaves the settings folder in place; delete %APPDATA%\DiskDetox to remove it, or use Settings → Remove saved key first. Requests you send to an AI provider are kept or deleted according to that provider's policy and your account settings there.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to or restrict its use, and to complain to a data protection authority. Because DiskDetox sends nothing to us, we hold no personal data from it, but you can email us with any question.

11. Security

Everything the app sends to an AI provider travels over HTTPS. Your API key is encrypted on your PC. The website installers come with SHA-256 checksums so you can check that your download has not been altered.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change how this app handles data, we will update this page and its effective date, and note material changes in the app's release notes.
